How to clean your makeup brushes

Daily we use our brushes to do our makeup and often we neglect to clean them either because we get bored or because we do not know the consequences (do not worry I do not want to scare you , but rather to awaken you) that can bring a dirty brush. After our makeup is done, microorganisms from the remnants of the products gather into the hairs of the brushes. These microorganisms are developing as time goes by. (gross!!!) Think how all these microorganisms accumulate in your brushes and It is like in your knowledge you use dirty brushes. Try to recall if sometimes you have noticed that your makeup does not have the same finish as in the beginning or if you experience acne in certain parts of your face such as the forehead and the cheeks. Maybe your brushes cause these...
The first step to keep your brushes clean is picking up a daily brush cleaner and spritzing it on your brushes after each use (I like Sephora’s Daily Brush Cleaner). Once a week (i sometimes do it twice), it’s time for a deep cleaning. (Remember that your brushes will need a few hours to dry after the cleaning, so I’d recommend washing them after you’ve done with your makeup or when you are sure that you are not going to need them any time soon.)

What You will need:

• Gentle clarifying shampoo or baby shampoo
• Your sink
• A cloth or some soft paper

Instructions:

  1. First begin by wetting your brushes with water. One thing that you should have in mind is to focus on the bristles. Be careful! Avoid to water the part of the brush where handle meets the head because this can actually loosen the glue and harm your brushes.
  2. Put a small quantity of shampoo in the palm of your hand and swirl your brush gently. While you are swirling your brush, you observe that the color of the shampoo changes and it gets darker and eventually brown.
  3. Place the brush once again under running water. You should repeat the procedure with the shampoo and the running water up until they stay clear.
  4. Use a cloth or soft paper to wipe your brushes and try to reshape the bristles as they were before.
  5. Lay your brushes flat to dry.
Now your brushes are fresh, clean, fragrant and ready to be used!
